I have had takeaway fish and chips from here a few times in the past and it has always been very nice but my mum and I went in one Tuesday evening for a quick dinner. We both had the OAP special/small fish and chips (which come with either a tea or coffee and the restaurant's own very tasty tartar sauce) and it was absolutely delicious. The chips were the best I've had and the cod chunks were amazing!! The fish is so fresh (because the front of the shop is a fishmongers) and it was cooked beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I went again with my husband on Thursday and then we went again on Saturday. Although it is a small portion there was plenty of food and we were both very satisfied. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The takeaway and restaurant are not obvious from the main street but it is well worth a visit. Really looking forward to going again (perhaps not three times again in one week)

Serving beautiful plentiful fish and chips, in a clean bright restaurant, Jacksons is a huge credit to Newton Abbot. To us, Jacksons serve the best fish and chips in the bay. Homemade organic mushy peas, and homemade tartare sauce are wonderful finishing touches. And the excellent fishmonger section at the front sells beautiful local crab, lobster, skate, megrim, cod, sea bass etc etc and even features salmon smoked on the premises. 5 stars doesn't cover it. The place is superb, probably because it's family run.
Delicious freshly cooked fish served in simple a caf next to the Fish and Chip counter. You can choose from the fish counter which fish you want cooked! You got to have it with chips and mushy peas, bread and butter! They make their own tartar sauce - yum.
Beautiful fish and chips...we eat here on a regular basis and have never been disappointed..... But book or get there early as it fills up very fast which is proof of how good the food is.The service is fantastic and very efficient..... A visit is a must if you're in Newton Abbot.
