Friendly, clear communication and a decent deal to boot.
My experience here made me a little angry! Went to view a car for my other half to gauge an idea on the boot size as we have two large dogs. We had a shortlist of cars which potentially meet our requirements and the Ibiza estate was one we wanted to check out. The salesman in shorts let us have a look inside but the car is just too small. We explained we were looking for something spacious, petrol, but a lot cheaper to run than her 2.4 Grand Vitara. So he suggested every other car he had on the forecourt including pointing at diesel Mercedes van! His next suggestion was a honda jazz, and so on. I reckon I have a pretty high knowledge of cars being a big car fan and previous car salesman, so we have done our homework. But I got told to go home and do some research! It was a real insult to my intelligence. Perhaps show you listen to a potential customer and don't just reel off a list of vehicles at random.
Because it isn't specifically part of the main dealership, service is poor. Bought a car and within the first year the car had been into main dealer several times with issues, so much wrong with my 'safety checked' car bought in the hope of a safer car, not the case. In the first year had constant problems with the clutch which resulted in it burning out and garage that fixed it said it had been slipping for a while and had visibly been getting hot. (It had been looked at by honda mechanic 5 times and told the clutch was fine and had 'loads of life left ').Air conditioning condenser broken, temperature sensor and wiring loom broken, both front shocks needed replacing on mot. Mot and service was a complete fiasco with terrible communication about collecting car and also the fact it had failed but there was no mechanic there to tell me why, no mot failure sheet and was just told to take it home.(Which I refused to do because I didn't even know if it was road legal or safe to drive) so basically, wouldn't actually reccomend this garage after the service I have received.
10/10 they really know there cars at Speedwell no high pressure salesman chasing you around the car lot. Just a nice relaxing place to go and browse or buy a good quality used car with 12 months warrantee what's not to like. We have purchased two used cars from Speedwell in the last 12 months and all I can say is that it was the easiest car purchases we have ever had made even better buy such a fab salesman as David Barton. Nothing is to much trouble everything explained simply and without no technical jargon or hard sell "what an asset to the company" David is. Shame I don't sell cars for a living however sadly I don't I run a different type of company or I would have poached him from you. Anyway Speedwell I hope you read this review keep doing what you are doing and don't change a thing see you soon if I need any more cars. PS: Thanks for a great Audi A1
