An excellent position on the estuary makes paying for an estuary view worthwhile. The sunrises over the water are spectacular. The restaurant is excellent and the bar is cosy. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. A remarkably equipped gym defying expectations. A great base for daytrips in all directions..
Rooms are OK. Clean and everything we needed. Travel cot wasn't brilliant so baby ended up with us. Beds were big and comfy. Breakfast was nice. Restaurant next door was great
Stayed Nov '18. Very unimpressed. Rooms basic, shower was very poor and difficult to turn off. We bought a two night deal but weren't told that we would be staying in a lodge which was far enough away from the reception and restaurant to get soaked on the first night. Breakfasts were ok but no better. One evening meal was included in our deal but we were told when we saw the menu that there was a limit of 30 per person, making starter, mains, dessert and coffee impossible. We went without dessert and were then told that we would have to pay for the coffee as drinks weren't included! After a short debate they, ungraciously, climbed down. The dinner itself was fair but nowhere near as good as the one we ate in an Italian restaurant in Newton Abbott the following night for much less! One of our mains had no potatoes until we asked for them and the other was listed on the menu as 'pork chop' but was, in fact, a pork steak - much cheaper without a bone and nothing like as tasty. We won't be returning to Best Western!
Unimpressed. Bed very comfortable but room very plain and bland. Shower very poor and difficult to turn off. Most of the rooms are in a different building from the facilities so you have to hope for fine weather at mealtimes!Ate dinner on the first day as it was included in the deal. Then told there was a limit of 30 per person. We had starter, dessert and coffee - comfortably under 30 - and they wanted to charge for the coffee!
Really beautiful setting. The breakfast was clean and tasty- not an artisan breakfast, but good none the less. The price is a bit much in that it was 12.50 for a full breakfast or 12.50 for scrambled egg and mushrooms. A bit of an arbitrary price system but if you can see past it the setting is lovely and the staff were super helpful. Go and try it !!
